Project Background
Situated at the crossroads of the Middle East, Jordan serves as a vital trade corridor connecting the Gulf countries, Africa, and Europe, with hundreds of thousands of international transit trucks crossing its borders annually. To manage this growing transit volume while effectively mitigating security risks such as smuggling, the Jordan Customs Department began exploring advanced technological solutions for monitoring transit cargo as early as 1997. After years of theoretical research and technical validation, Jordan Customs officially launched its "Electronic Transit Monitoring and Facilitation System" in 2008.

Since 2017, our company has established a long-term cooperative relationship with Jordan Customs, successfully implementing two phases of the "Customs Asset Intelligent Monitoring and Management Solution" project in 2017 and 2024. These projects have empowered Jordan Customs to achieve end-to-end visualization and intelligent control over transit vehicles.

Problems and Challenges
Prior to the implementation of our solution, Jordan Customs primarily relied on traditional physical escorts to manage transit traffic, which presented several prominent issues:

·

Low Transport Efficiency: Trucks were required to travel in convoys (50 to 100 vehicles each), leading to transit times of 10 to 24 hours.

High Security Risks: Traditional methods were ineffective in preventing cargo tampering, concealment of smuggled goods, or the transport of dangerous materials.

Outdated Monitoring Means: There was a lack of real-time positioning and status monitoring capabilities, making it impossible to detect and respond to violations promptly.

Difficult Asset Tracking: Inability to effectively link tractors and trailers posed a risk of separation.

High Equipment Adaptability Requirements: Needed portable devices that were quick to install and remove, offered long battery life, and featured tamper-proof mechanisms.

·GPS Smart Lock for Containers

Our Solution: Intelligent Electronic Lock and Asset Monitoring System
Tailored to the specific operational scenarios of Jordan Customs, our company designed and provided a comprehensive intelligent electronic lock system integrating GPS positioning, RFID electronic seals, GPRS/SMS communication, geo-fencing, and a real-time monitoring platform. The core functionalities of this solution include:

Intelligent Electronic Seals: Installed on truck/container doors and the connection point between tractor and trailer. These seals feature tamper alerts and communicate wirelessly with the onboard tracking unit.

Real-time Positioning and Monitoring: Utilizes GPS and GPRS technology to track vehicle locations in real-time, enabling the central control room to monitor thousands of transit trucks simultaneously on large display walls.

Geo-fencing and Route Planning: Pre-assigns transit routes. The system triggers an instant alarm if a vehicle deviates from its designated path, automatically dispatching patrol cars to investigate.

Quick Installation and Long Battery Life: The tracking unit can be installed or removed in under two minutes. Its rechargeable, long-life battery is sufficient to power the entire transit journey across the country.

Data Integration and Report Generation: The system integrates seamlessly with the existing automated customs system. It automatically generates comprehensive trip reports, logs any violations, and supports risk analysis and decision-making.

Implementation Results and Client Benefits
Since the initial deployment in 2017, our intelligent electronic lock system has been fully implemented across Jordan Customs, yielding remarkable results:

Significantly Reduced Transit Time: The average transit time from the Syrian border (Jaber) to the Saudi border (Umary) decreased from 8 hours to just 3.5 hours, a reduction of over 60%.

Over 90% Reduction in Escort Requirements: Physical escorts are now reserved only for high-risk, high-duty goods, freeing up significant regulatory resources.

80% Increase in Transit Traffic: Enhanced customs clearance efficiency and security have made Jordan a more attractive transit route, leading to an over 80% increase in transit trade volume.

Notable Decrease in Smuggling Cases: Following the full system operation in 2009, smuggling attempts during transit journeys dropped significantly, contributing to an overall year-on-year decrease in total smuggling cases.

Enhanced Security Control: Real-time monitoring and automatic alarm mechanisms have greatly strengthened the ability to manage high-risk cargo.

High Client Satisfaction: Surveys indicate that the vast majority of drivers and transport companies prefer using the system (even with a service fee) over returning to the traditional escort system.
